Twist Braid Wallet - Black

$270.00
sold out

The twist braid was a staple technology of the stock camps and camel yards of Central and Northern Australia. By slitting a single piece of leather and twisting the strands a loop is formed that allows the maker to affix a buckle on a belt or girth strap without need of rivets or stitching.

The strength and simplicity of the twist braid are here celebrated in full-grain kangaroo leather to attach a solid brass money clip to an elegant and minimal eight card bi-fold wallet.

No concession has been made in making a signature piece that exhibits benchmark techniques of traditional leatherwork. Each card sleeve has skived and folded edges to minimise stretch and the wallet has been entirely hand stitched with the finest French linen threads. The exterior edges of the twist braid wallet have been edge creased and burnished using natural waxes and traditional irons on an open spirit flame.
